*Obituary
Grace M. Cooper, 94, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the Park Place Parlor, 1300 S. Harrison St. with Jerry Bell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Grace was born on February 15, 1924 in Texola, Oklahoma to Henry and Mabel Krug. Grace lived a full life although she was plagued by polio at the age of 13 and she missed an entire year of school. She was placed in an iron lung, which was the only one in Colorado at that time. Later in life, Grace had a mission to educate people about polio since so few people know much about it this day and age. After high school, Grace attended business college. She married Bill Cooper on December 22, 1943 in Wheeler. She was a resident of Borger for about 60 years and worked for Phillips Petroleum, eventually becoming the first female Production Accounting Supervisor. Family was most important to Grace. She also had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to play cards and was considered an avid bridge player. Grace was a phenomenal cook, enjoyed reading and puzzles and grew the most beautiful flowers. Grace was a member of the Church of Christ. Grace's life motto, which she learned from her dad, was 'A job worth doing is a job worth doing right!', and it is being carried on even now through some of her grands and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; her parents; two sisters, Mil Young and Gladys Williams; and one brother, Ralph Krug.

Grace is survived by one son, Jerry Cooper and wife Nayoma of Guymon, OK; one daughter, Lori Shupe and husband Martin of Granbury; one sister, Pat Kamphaus of Tulsa, OK; one brother, H.B. Krug and wife Kathryn of Shamrock; one sister-in-law, Juanita Whitten of Borger; five grandchildren, Julee Vanden Boogaard and husband Brad of Clarendon, Tara Pike and husband Nathan of Amarillo, Chase Cooper and wife Alisa of Katy, Ethan Shupe of Nacogdoches, and Abby Shupe of Huntsville; seven great-grandchildren, Parker Pike, Piper Pike, Jax Vanden Boogaard, Crosby Cooper, twins Prestyn and Deacon Pike, Raya Cooper, and one great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Park Place Hope Fund, 1300 S. Harrison, Amarillo, TX 79101; BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th Ave Suite 100, Amarillo, TX 79106; or March of Dimes, 1275 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605.
