On June 8, 1931, all three brothers were drowning victims when the waters from Kemp Creek flooded their home following a nine inch rain storm. The San Antonio Express reported the mother as saying she and the three children heard the roar of the headwaters, but were caught in the swirl of rushing water as they emerged from the house. She clung to a tree and attempted to rescue the children, but they were swept out of her grasp. When the flood waters receded she was rescued by neighbors. The Fuston house was shifted seven feet. The father and another son had gone to Turkey before the storm struck and were unable to return because of the flood.
