*Obituary

Leon, Dora Rose Dora Rose Leon (known as Do) was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 3, 1922, and died May 9, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Do graduated from high school at the age of sixteen and went to work as a legal secretary for Manuel "Sully" Sullivan. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Leonard Leon and they began a happy marriage that lasted almost seventy years. During that time, they moved often for Leonard's career; they raised their three children in Louisiana (primarily in New Orleans, Lake Charles and Shreveport) and Houston, Texas. Do and Leonard also spent thirteen years in Duncan, Oklahoma, where they made many lasting friendships. They returned to Houston where, for 23 years, Do was a dedicated volunteer at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center. Six years ago, Do and Leonard moved to Dallas to be closer to their daughter. Do was a gentle, sweet, petite and beautiful lady whose highest priority was her husband and family. She was a fantastic cook and loved to sew. Her daughter, Barbara, has fond memories of the clothes Do made her, including almost the entire wardrobe that she took to college. Together, Do and Leonard traveled extensively and enjoyed going to the symphony. Do was adored by all who knew her and she will be terribly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rachel and Herman Bernstein, and her sister, Mae Lavner. She is survived by her husband, Leonard Leon, children Barbara (Michael) Donsky, Roy (Barb) Leon and Jack Leon; grandchildren Alan Donsky, Paul Donsky (Elizabeth Lenhard), Andrea (Jeffrey) Berkowitz, Amy (Ryan) Rostvold, Joseph Leon, Lora Leon and Peter Leon; great grandchildren Rachel and Lindsey Berkowitz, Mira and Talia Donsky, and Nathaniel and Waverly Rostvold. A memorial service will be held on Sunday May 12, 2013 at Congregation Shearith Israel Beck Sanctuary at 12:00. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Dallas Chapter Office, 4144 N. Central Expressway #750, Dallas Texas 75204.
