Barragan, Michael Anthony Michael Anthony Barragan,died April 24, 2011. Michael was born November 5, 1956 in Dallas, Texas. He attended Christ The King Catholic School and graduated from Jesuit High School in 1975. From 1975-1979, he attended UT Austin, graduating with a BS in Political Science. While at Texas, he was a member and President of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He was also member of the Texas Cowboys. He remained in Austin to attend law school, receiving his J.D. from UT in 1982. Later that year, he joined the law firm of Gardere & Wynne. He remained there for almost twenty years, earning the title "The Prince of Darkness." It was also in that time that he met his beloved wife, Beverly. The were married on March 11, 1989. He often said marrying Beverly was the best case he ever won! In 2003, he opened his own practice, specializing in probate litigation. Michael was also active in the community. He was a member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, class of 1995, as well as a 30 year member of the Longhorn Breakfast Club. Oh how he loved "His Longhorns"! He loved the game of golf and was a long time member of Lakewood Country Club. He was also a staple of and contributor to The Gatlin Brothers Celebrity Pro- Am benefitting MDS, where he was known for his booming drives. Mike never met a long drive contest he could not conquer! Hence rightfully earning the title of "Mongo"! Michael was preceded in death by his parents, James C. and Marjorie P. Barragan. He is survived by his wife Beverly and their daughter Kathryn, the shining star of his life! His brother James, his wife Nancy, their daughter Elizabeth and their son Culley and his wife Lara: His sister Marjorie Kathryn "Cake" Lyon, her husband Randy and their children Jennifer and Christopher: His sister Kay Smith Blum, her husband Butch and their children Case, Kyle and Bryce: And his nieces, Eryn Scott and Avery Matthews.Mike will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving husband and father, a consumate professional and the rock of the Barragan family. He was loved and respected by all. Not so much loved by the opposing counsel, but always respected. Memorial Services will be held Friday, April 29th at 12 p.m. at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church,6306 Kenwood. 75214. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Salesmanship Club of Dallas.
