Powell, JACK, 80, peacefully passed away on April 4, 2004. He is survived by his loving wife, Myra; three sons, Jeff, James, and David; three grandchildren, Kara, Taylor, and Jake; sister, Allie Strickland; and brother, Presley Powell. Jack served his country in the air corp during WWII. Jack, a long time resident of Dallas, was very a successful businessman. He started Lectric Safety Lites Co. in 1963 and worked very hard to make it a successful and highly respected company for 37 years. He had a great love for thoroughbred horses. He enjoyed following horse racing and attending numerous horse racing events. He was very proud of his farm in Louisiana where he bred and trained horses. He was also a longtime Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed attending several Superbowls. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Aura, Juan, and Miriam. They were special care givers to Jack for several years. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 7 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home East Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy. in Dallas. POWELL, MYRA JOY, passed away on March 15, 2005. She was preceded in death by husband, Jack Powell. She is survived by sons, Jeff, James, and David; and grandchildren, Kara, Taylor, and Jake. She is from Tennessee where many of her brothers and sisters still live. Myra was a very caring and giving person. The most important thing to her was taking care of her children and grandchildren. She had a great love for roses and she enjoyed collecting angels. She was a very successful business owner and enjoyed having all 3 boys work with her. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. A service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 17 at Mausoleum Chapel East at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas.
