Obituary
A longtime Borger oil and gas producer, L. Jack Gross, 60, 1403 Primrose, died at 8:35 p.m. Sunday in St. Anthony's Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Evans, associate pastor, First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.

He is survived by his wife, Jearlee of the home; two sons, Lee of Borger and Tom of Pampa; his mother, Mrs. Edna Jo Gross of Oklahoma City, Okla., and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Gross was employed by Phillips 1945 to 1963 in the exploration and production department. He then joined W.S. Etchison in an oil and gas business as an independent operator in 1963 and continued to develop oil and gas holdings.

He was a Borger Independent School Trustee from 1969 through 1971, and was active in youth work, assisting in their college education through the years. Gross graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in chemical engineering.

He was a past Worshipful Master of the Isom Masonic Lodge.

Gross was a former owner and operator of the Tri City Water Supply.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II and Korean conflict and was discharged in 1952 with a rank of lieutenant.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
