Nancy "Louise" Hankins, 86, of Canyon, formerly of Borger, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Bunavista Baptist Church in Borger with Andy Mangum, grandson-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Louise was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Grayson County to John Walter and Dellar B. Earl and was one of 11 children. She lived in and around Whitesboro and went to school in Southmayd and Sadler. She married Ralph Hankins, also of the Whitesboro area, on Nov. 2, 1940.

They moved to Borger in 1943 for Ralph to work for Phillips Petroleum Co. They brought their daughter, Darlene, and a son, Jerry Don, born in 1945. They lived in the Bunavista area until 1958 and then moved into Borger. Louise and her family were active members in Bunavista Baptist Church and made lifelong friends there. She was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother, a seamstress and a great cook and grandmother. She was "Nanny" to her grandchildren and "Nanny Hanks" to her great-grandchildren. At one time, she also worked for Phillips, and another time she worked for Dr. Rex Prewit.

She had lived in Canyon for the past 2½ years and had made good friends at Hudson House.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph, in 1995; her parents, John Walter and Dellar B. Earl; two brothers, Emmett F. Earl and J.W. Earl; four sisters, Beulah Mae Akin, Mozelle Hazelwood, Ruby Linsteadt and Nina Fay Ford; and a son-in-law, Carl Hollabaugh.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Hollabaugh of Canyon; a son, Jerry Hankins and wife Winna of Lake Kiowa; four grandchildren, Scott Hollabaugh of Canyon, Becky Crane and husband Charlie and Emily Westbrook and husband Paul, all of McKinney, and Lori Mangum and husband Andy of Grand Prairie; nine great-grandchildren, Madison, Andrew and Joshua Mangum of Grand Prairie and Austin, Carly, Katy and Cassidy Crane and Hunter and Addison Westbrook, all of McKinney; a brother, C.W. Earl of Wilmington, Ill.; three sisters, Arietta Ders of Oak Lawn, Ill., Zora Lea Streib of Rockford, Ill., and Billie Earl of Sherman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Bunavista Baptist Church, 2 Amaryllis St., Borger, TX 79007; or BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.

Casket bearers will be Scott Hollabaugh, Austin Crane, Charlie Crane, Paul Westbrook, Dan Holt, Wally Dickerson and Rex Wilt. Honorary bearers are her great-grandchildren.
