*Obituary

Rosenberg, MARCUS ABRAHAM ROSENBERG. Born November 6, 1923 in Bardejov, Czechoslovakia. Died February 18, 2005. As a young man, Marcus survived the horrors of the Holocaust. He immigrated to the United States in 1950, where he founded Arrow Industries in Dallas in 1954. He built Arrow Industries into a successful and thriving business, employing hundreds in Dallas and elsewhere throughout the United States, until he sold the business in 1992. Aside from his success in business, Marcuss was life marked by philanthropy -- donating to charities and institutions throughout the world. Marcus was a force for Jewish life and education in Dallas, New York, Washington, D.C., and Israel both in terms of his generous financial support, and his hard work and determination. Marcus founded, built, or supported schools, hospitals, and museums. Marcus was the first president of the board of Akiba Academy of Dallas, the first Jewish day school in Dallas, founded in 1962. Marcus was also a founder of Congregation Shaare Tefilla in Dallas, and was a major supporter of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., Bar-Ilan University in Israel, Yavneh Academy of Dallas, the Center for Jewish History, and numerous other worthy beneficiaries. Marcus was motivated in his philanthropy by the desire to create an everlasting gift for his children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces, as well as the broader communities in Dallas and around the world. His generosity, vision, and perseverance set a standard that has motivated many who were lucky enough to know Marcus to emulate his generous giving. Marcus was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Margot Pulitzer. He is survived by his wife Ann Pappenheim Rosenberg, his children, Helen Rosenberg Waks, Steven and Ruthy Rosenberg, Randy Pulitzer, Lizzy and Jules Greif, and Sheri Rosenberg; and by his adoring grandchildren, Eliezer, Ariela, and Dana Rosenberg, David, Daniel and Noa Waks, Jessica, Samuel, Miles, and Mina Pulitzer, and Gabriella and Jake Greif; by his siblings, Emanuel and Valy Rohan, David and Gussie Rosenberg, and Erika and Andrew Sigel; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Congregation Shaare Tefilla, 6131 Churchill Way, Rabbi Ari Perl and Rabbi Howard Wolk, officiating. Marcuss life was a blessing to all who knew him and to the many institutions he supported. His passing will be felt as a deep loss to the Jewish community throughout America and Israel, to his family, and to everyone who knew and loved him dearly. Donations may be made to Akiba Academy of Dallas, Congregation Shaare Tefilla, or Yavneh Academy of Dallas. Dignity Memorial Sparkman Hillcrest 7405 W. Northwest Hwy. Dallas (214) 363-5401
