**Obituary
Abilene - Mark Wayne Pillans died on February 24, 2008, following a brief Illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 29, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Family visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Atwell Cemetery.

Born in Abilene, Texas on April 26, 1961, Mark was the son of Neal and Joice (Teague) Pillans. He graduated from Rotan High School in 1979. Mark married the love of his life, Neta Chancellor, and was a devoted father to their daughter, Cassidy Chancellor.

Mark began working for Atmos Energy (formerly Lone Star Gas Company) in 1989 during which time he and Neta lived in Abilene and Sweetwater. In 2006 Mark was transferred to Ponder, Texas, where he served as compressor specialist for Atmos Energy's Ponder Compression Station. Mark loved his work and all of the Atmos employees with whom he worked. By the number of visitors from the Atmos family during his illness, they felt the same way about Mark. The family would like to thank the Atmos Energy family, especially Lee Odell and his family, for their love and support during this very difficult time.

Mark was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, cooking, working on his cars, visiting with family, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. A friend to everyone he met, Mark was always the first person to offer a hand when help was needed. Unselfish, loving and kind, with a heart bigger than all West Texas, Mark will be deeply missed by all that knew him and loved him.

Mark was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Howard Pillans, and maternal grandfather, John Teague. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Neta Pillans of Ponder, Texas, and daughter, Cassidy Chancellor of Wichita, Kansas; parents, Neal and Joice Pillans of Rotan; brothers, John Pillans and wife, Dottie, of Rotan and Matthew Pillans and wife, Lynne, of Lampasas; sister, Karla Paske and husband, Tommy, of Rotan; brother-in-law, Roy Twilley of Dallas and grandmothers, Vera Pillans of Abilene and Evelyn Teague of Rotan.

Mark is also survived by aunts and uncles, Bill Pillans of Graham, Betty and Jerry Gayden, and Joyce and Robert Wommack of Abilene, J. C. and Dorothy Teague of Odessa, Lois and Carroll Howard of Georgia, Joe and Wilma Teague of Colorado, Will and Juana Teague of Arizona, and Jerry and Nadine of Abilene; and a host of cousins, nephews and nieces that loved him and will miss him.
