Borger News Herald - July 4, 1997

Nels A. Larsen, 80, of Borger died Wednesday, July 2, in Golden Plains Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church with Dr. David Jones, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Directors.

A retired owner of Larsen Motor Company, he was a native of Twin Valley, Minnesota and a Borger resident for 54 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge. He married Pauline (Dobson) on October 10, 1962 in Borger.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline; three daughters, Nedra Black of Abilene, Carolyn Tabor of Denton and Sandra Ward of Starkville, Miss.; one brother, Bob Larsen of Sonoma, Calif.; four sisters, Clarine O'Conner of Windsor, Calif., Ruby Fitzgerald of Mesa, Ariz.; Millie Klinger of Minneapolis, Minn., and Doris Madigan of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Claudie West, Paul Black, Brent Tabor, Billy Wood and A.L. McCullough.

Obituary for Pauline
Pauline Larsen passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 in Georgetown, Texas, at the age of 89.

She was born May 8, 1918, to Elvie Della Kirby and David Peter Dobson in Gunter, Grayson County, Texas. Two brothers, David Peter Dobson Jr. and O. J. Dobson, and one sister Ellen Jane preceded her in death.

Pauline was raised in Southeastern Oklahoma. She earned her bachelor's degree at Southeastern State and her Masters degree at Oklahoma State University. She came to Borger in 1954 after teaching 10 years in Oklahoma and one year in Burkburnett. She taught elementary school in Borger for 28 years, retiring in 1982.

She married Nels A. Larsen, owner of Larsen Motor Company, Oct. 12, 1962. Pauline and Nels were parents of three daughters, Nedra Larsen Black of Abilene, Carolyn Baxter Taber of Boerne, and Sandra Baxter Ward of Georgetown. Pauline and Nels delighted in their five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pauline was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Hutchinson County Retired Teachers Association, and the Collector's Club.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Borger. She will lie in state, Thursday, March 6, 2008 and Friday, March 7, 2008 at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains in Borger. Visitation will be on Friday, March 7 at Brown's Funeral Home. Family members will welcome others to the visitation from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Pauline Larsen can be made to the Hutchinson County Crisis Center Inc., PO Box 182, Borger 79008 or the Amarillo Alzheimer's Association, 415 West Eighth Avenue, Suite 300, Amarillo, Texas 79101.
