Obituary
Mary Louise Loyd, 87, of Amarillo died Monday, April 19, 2004.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Wesley United Methodist Church of Borger with the Rev. John Rakestraw officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Borger by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.

Mrs. Loyd was born to Roland and Bessie Loyd on June 26, 1916. She graduated from McMurry College with honors. She married Emory William Loyd on Sept. 17, 1945. Before marriage, Mrs. Loyd was a school teacher in West Texas and worked in a bank in Los Angeles.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962; her parents; and three brothers, Kenneth Loyd, Lewis R. Loyd and David Loyd.

Survivors include four sons, Roger and wife, Leta, of Durham, N.C., Douglas and fiancee, Josie Pipkin, of Charlotteville, Va., Robert and wife, Linda, of League City and Richard and wife, Mary, of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Margaret Burns of Borger, Geneva Lindsey of Oklahoma City and Alice Kirk of Redondo Beach, Calif.; a brother, Donald Loyd of Borger; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
