Funeral services for George N. McDaniel, Jr., 87, Borger, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Minton Memorial Chapel with Mr. Richard Kasko, minister of Gardner Street Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. McDaniel died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1991 in St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo.

A native of Georgetown, he had been a Borger resident since 1928. He was an independent oil producer.

He was a member of TIPRO Assoc., Panhandle Producers & Royalty Owners Association, director of Panhandle Bank & Trust, twice presidental [sic] elector, and private pilot. He was a graduate of Texas A&M & M.I.Y. in Boston.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fowler McDaniel, who died in 1984 in Tulia.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn of the home; two sons, Marc McDaniel of Austin; and Rodney McDaniel of Midland; a daughter, Sara Gray of Houston; a brother, Moran McDaniel of LaMarque; and three grandchildren.

The family requests memorials to the Hutchinson County Museum or a favorite charity.

BORGER - Anna Kathryn Davies McDaniel, 92, died Thursday, June 5, 2008.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Church of Christ with Neville Buchanan, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Kathryn was born Sept. 19, 1915, in Lubbock and had been a Borger resident for 61 years. She married George N. McDaniel on April 2, 1947, in Lubbock. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics at Texas Tech in 1939. She was a schoolteacher for 11 years at White River, Cotton Center, Hereford and Canyon.

Kathryn was a political leader for 30 years. She helped to organize the Republican Party in Texas from 1952 to 1966. From 1954 to 1960, she served on the Republican State Executive Committee of Texas and was vice chairman of the committee from 1960 to 1966. She was a national convention delegate in 1956, 1960, 1964, 1968 and 1972 and was a platform committee member in 1960 and 1964.

She was active in the American Association of University Women, Conamour Federated Club, Republican Women Study Club, Twentieth Century Federated Club, Genealogy Society, Retired School Personnel-Teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Ernest and Georgia Emma Luce Davies; her husband, George N. McDaniel; four sisters, Nina Opal Davies Key, Lillie Leora Davies Little, John Bernice Davies Guess and Ivan Estelle Davies Ince; a brother, Albert Ernest Davies Jr.; and a stepson, Rodney George McDaniel.

Survivors include a daughter, Sara McDaniel and husband Doug Gray of Schulenburg; a son, Marc McDaniel and wife Beverly Penn of Austin; a niece, Mary McDaniel Rogers of Midland; a sister-in-law, Lola Haden McDaniel of LaMarque; and four grandchildren, Douglas Gray, Emma Gray, Eli McDaniel and Lily McDaniel.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
