Mr. Charlie (Nick) Nickerson, 93, of Canyon, passed away, Friday, February 1, 2013

Charlie (Nick) Nickerson was born June 13, 1919 in Francis, Oklahoma to James Oscar and Tommie James (Porter) Nickerson. He was married to Vivian Lee McGowan on July 4, 1952 in Ada, Oklahoma.

Mr. Nickerson was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, and Local 351 I.U.O.E. and served in the C.C.C. (Civilian Conservation Corps) in 1938 to 1940. He also served in the United States Army during WWII European Theatre, March 1943 to April 1946. Charlie worked for Phillips Petroleum Company as a field operator for thirty-eight years.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, wife Vivian and 5 Brothers.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law Charles and Mona Nickerson of Amarillo, Texas, Daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Gary Edwards of Canyon, Texas, three brothers and sister-in-laws Elmer and Annagene Nickerson of Walters, Oklahoma, Alfred and Glenda Nickerson of Francis, Oklahoma, Junior and Norma Nickerson of Paris, Arkansas, two sisters and brother-in-law Mary and Issac Fletcher of Borger, Texas, and Beatrice Nickerson of Ringling, Oklahoma. He is also survived by three grand children Vivienne, Susanna and Christian and three great grandchildren Jacob, Zeb, and Shon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the First Assembly of God in Borger, TX with Pastor Calvin Newton and Pastor David Morgan officiating. Burial to follow at Westlawn Memorial Cemetery in Borger, TX. With Military Honors.

Mr. Nickerson will lie in state at Brown Chapel of the Fountains in Borger on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 12:00PM~8:00PM, and Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 8:00AM~8:00PM.

Memorial may be given to the Gideon Bible Society P.O. Box 5800, Borger, Texas 79008-5800.

FRITCH - Vivian Lee Nickerson, 63, Fritch, died Sunday, April 1, 1990, in St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo.

Funeral services are pending with Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.

A native of Lincoln, Neb., she had been a Fritch resident for 37 years.

She was a retired elementary teacher in Fritch and Borger. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Fritch.

Survivors include her husband, C.J. "Nick" of the home; one son, Doug Nickerson of Amarillo; one daughter, Brenda Edwards of Borger; one brother, Lyle McGowan of Tulsa, Okla.; four sisters, Virginia Nickerson of Ada, Okla.; Ina Underwood and Bernice Bullard, both of Mission; Lorna Tate of Borger; and three grandchildren.
