FRITCH - Services for Melvin Payne, 58, of 408 S. Vaughn were held at 2 p.m. today in the First Southern Baptist Church here with the Rev. Charles Stafford and the Rev. Willis Stafford officiating.

Burial was in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.

Payne died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday in St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter and three grandchildren.

Casketbearers were Dossie Floyd, C.P. Whatley, Roy Pepper, T.J. Hill, Jay Sibley and Clovis Sibley.

1920 - 2017

Moree Berry Payne passed away peacefully at her home in Fritch on January 21, 2017. Moree lived in Fritch for 65 years. She was a devoted member of First Southern Baptist Church for over 60 years.

She was born in Kress, Texas on April 3, 1920. Her parents, Eugene and Maggie Lee Berry were farmers. She was the last living child of Eugene and Maggie Lee. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: W.A., Jack, William, Floyd , Laurene Elkins and Mildred Byrum. Her husband, Melvin Payne, passed away in 1972.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Melba Payne Wills and son-in-law, Keith Wills of Edmond, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren: Randy Wills, Renee Wills and Rhonda Chatwin and 5 great grandchilren: Jake Wills, Tyler Wills, Cole Wills, Blake Wills and Brett Wills.

Moree worked in the dry cleaning business in Borger for over 50 years. She retired at the age of 85 to spend time with her family. She enjoyed making fudge, pecan pies and other tasty dishes for her friends and family. She took pride in seeing her family happy. Moree never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to new people and getting to know them and their families.

Services will be held Saturday, January 28th, 2017 at 11:00 am at First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch. The family is requesting attendee's wear red in honor of Moree.

She will lie in state at Brown's Chapel in Fritch, Friday, January 27th, from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request memorial donations be made to First Southern Baptist Church, 520 Overland Trail, Fritch, Texas 79036.

Services are entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors, Fritch.
