R.L. "Jake" Phares, 75, of 19 Riverview in Borger died at 8:50 p.m., December 20, in Magic Plains Nursing Home in Borger.

A retired operator for Southwestern Public Service Company, he was a native of Amit, Louisiana, and a Borger resident for 45 years.

He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, a retired operator for Southwestern Public Service Company.

He married Inez Smith, April 25, 1931 in Oakgrove, La.

He is survived by his wife, Inez of the home; three sons, Jerrell, Billy, and Gary Phares, all of Borger; one daughter, Glenda Henson of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Clayton Phares of Santa Monica, Calif.; two sisters, Helen Reeves of Norwalk, Calif.; and Lois Williamson of Norwalk, Calif., eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Seale, pastor, and Reverend Bob Henson, assisting, officiating.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Alexander-Morton Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons of Mr. Phares.
