*Obituary

James Kellous English was born in Personville, TX in 1925. He graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1943, and enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He served in combat as nose gunner and bombardier in B-24 Liberator aircraft from 24 October 1944 to 14 April 1945 in the European Theater of Operations. Battle areas included Rome-Arno; the northern Apennines; the Po Valley; Rhineland; Central Europe; Germany; and the Balkans during World War II. After returning to the U.S., he married Emma Jean Moore. They had a wonderful marriage that lasted until her death in 2002. After the war, they lived in Houston for many years, where he was in construction; serving as masonry superintendent on churches, schools, and skyscrapers. Their daughter, Judy was born and raised there. Mr. English was past member of Garden Oaks Masonic Lodge #1306 in Houston and a current member of Boggy Lodge #739 in Teague, as well as a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Shriner. Following early retirement, Jim & Jean moved back to the family farm, where he enjoyed building their house, raising cattle, building fence, and baling hay – with some fishing thrown in for good measure. They were members of several Methodist churches in Houston; locally, Dew United Methodist Church.

He was a great father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and is survived by his daughter, Judy and her husband Don and her family, and including Jim's two grandsons, William and his wife Elizabeth and Ryan and his wife Celeste and two great-grandchildren, Vera and Eamon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Moore English and infant daughter Karolyn Jean English. He was the last remaining sibling in his family.
