*Obituary
Funeral services for Berdell Pace, of Levelland, will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at the George C. Price Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Randal Hamilton officiating.
Berdell passed away on Jan. 29, 2008, in Covenant Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born in Fletcher, Okla. on Jan. 6, 1920, to Oscar and Bertha Nelson. Berdell grew up in the community of Crowell. She graduated from West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon, with her bachelor's in education in 1948, and taught for a short time in the Crowell area before moving to Levelland in the early 50's. Mrs. Pace taught at South Elementary for two years. She soon met Glen Pace and they married on May 23, 1953. Glen built their home on a farm south of Levelland and they lived there until both passed away. Glen farmed and Berdell was the best mother, wife, and homemaker for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by many other beloved family members and friends. She and Glen were married for 49 years before his death in 2002. Since her husband passed away, Berdell has lived alone in her home and enjoyed a peaceful and simple life. She was blessed to have a special friend, Myrtle Bosher, who is an angel, help with her day-to-day activities over the past few years.
Berdell loved her family. She took her greatest joy in keeping up with her grandchildren who knew her as Nana. She looked forward to every visit or phone call from her family and friends. Berdell loved so many people and was loved by them as well. She was a member at the Town and Country Friendship Club in Levelland from its inception in the 1950's.
She loved flowers, especially Texas bluebonnets, and grew them in her yard. She also made several trips in the spring to see them in bloom in the Texas Hill Country. She loved birds and sat and watched them as she looked out her window. She loved the mountains and had many years of great times staying in the cabin she and Glen owned in Ruidoso, N.M. Berdell was an amazing cook. She loved her kitchen and nothing made her happier than preparing the biggest and best meals for her family and visitors. She lived a blessed and gracious life. She will be missed but never forgotten by all who knew her.
