Silverman, ARTHUR passed away on June 28, 2004. He was born on July 11, 1918 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to Isadore and Elsie Silverman. At age 13 he moved to Bartlett, Texas with his family. Arthur graduated with honors from the University of Texas in Austin and received a Masters in Business Administration from New York University. He served with distinction in the European campaign in the US Army during World War II. Before going overseas, he married Pearl Leichter of New York. In 1946 he and Pearl moved to Dallas where Arthur joined his brother Herbert at the well-known womens store, Colberts. They then opened and operated the high fashion womens stores Wally Williams for over thirty years. After leaving retailing, Arthur enjoyed twenty years of retirement. He was preceeded in death by his wife Pearl and son Barry. He is survived by his son Ira and daughter-in-law Sally Pian of Dallas, daughter Teresa and son-in-law Jack Dillard of Round Rock, grandson Matthew Silverman of Tampa Bay, Florida, granddaughter Julie Silverman of Dallas, and dear friend Libba Studdard . He is also survived by brother and sister-in-law Herbert and Judy of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, brother and sister-in-law Stanley and Shirley Silverman of Arlington, Virginia, and sister Helen Feder of Dallas, and many nephews and nieces. Pallbearers are Peter Vogel, Larry Berk, Gary Berman, Jeffrey Rosenbloom, Barry Bloom, Michael Grossfeld, Steve Silverman, and Seth Kaufman. Rabbi Gerald Klein of Temple Emanu-El will officiate at the funeral on Wednesday June 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel. Interment following in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
