Stern, FLORENCE NOVIT passed away on June 12, 2003, in Dallas, TX. Born April 1, 1917 in Vernon, Texas. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Jack E. Stern, her sister Sophie Freundlich and her parents Ida and Sam Novit. Survived by children: Larry (Rebecca) Stern; Sandra (Al) Newberg; and Tere (Craig) Spencer; seven grandchildren: Melanie (Fred) Schwartz: Jennifer (Joel) Bernbaum; Joshua Stern, Jamey (Ginger) Newberg, Barry (Kenna) Newberg, Mandy (Mark) Weiner; and Shaun Spencer; three great-grandchildren: Erica Newberg, Sophia Bernbaum and Anna Rose Bernbaum; and one sister Helen Novit. Florence was an accomplished artist; her many oil paintings and water colors are cherished possessions of her family and friends. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of Golden Acres, who took such loving care of her during the last year. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, June 15, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Hwy. Chapel, Rabbi Adam Raskin, officiating and she will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family requests that donations in memory of Florence Stern be made to the American Heart Association, Congregation Shearith Israel, 9401 Douglas Avenue, Dallas, TX 75225, or the Dallas Home for the Jewish Aged, 2525 Centerville Road, Dallas, TX 75228.
