SHAY, DELLA, Adorable, cherished, and beloved by all who knew her, our "Muzzy" passed away after 90 years of giving and loving unconditionally to her family and friends. She was born in 1916 in Dallas to Louis and Rose Abramson. She married Harry Walensky of Fort Worth, and together they had two wonderful daughters Sue Ring and Barbara Zale. Moving to Dallas in the early 50's she met and later married Harry Shay. The two shared a wonderful life until he passed away in 1978. Muzzy was a dedicated volunteer at the Jewish Community Center. She devoted her energy and time to the Senior Olympics and the YES Club where she served as President. She was also a Charter Member of the prestigious Beaumont Club. Her family was her life and she freely gave of herself to them all. Her integrity, wit, wisdom, humor and love of life will be cherished memories to all who knew her. She is survived by her children Sue and Lewis Ring, Barbara and Donald Zale, her sisters Dubley Frauman, Helen Fagin and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dorothy and Morris Steinberg, grandchildren Greg Ebenholtz, Leslie Bowen, Gayle and Adam Calderon, Barry and Cindy Zale, Julie and George Tobolowsky, Dana and Quin Gerard, and 19 adoring great grandchildren. She especially cherished her late sister-in-law Sylvia Rubin and her wonderful daughters: Elaine, Marsha, Natalie, and their families. Her family is forever grateful to her physician, Dr. Craig Rubin and the outstanding staff at UT Southwestern Medical School, St. Paul and Zale Lipshy Hospital for their attention to her healthcare. The family is also especially appreciative of the attention she received from Natalie Garry, Lisa Davis and home-care givers. Memorial services at Temple Emanu-El at 11:00 am on Wednesday will be held in her memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Della Shay's honor may be made to Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas 75225 or Southwestern Medical Center/Zale Lipshy University Hospital, 5151 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75391 or to the charity of your choice.
