*Obituary

Goodman, Elfrieda Elfrieda Goodman of Dallas passed away on December 9. She was born in Dresden, Germany on August 11, 1926. In the early years of World War II, Elfrieda was able to escape from occupied Europe through the heroic efforts of her mother. Once in the United States, she was adopted by the Kubby family in El Paso, Texas, and soon came to see herself as a Texan. After graduating high school, she attended Texas Western University before moving to Houston and later Los Angeles. She worked as a secretary for a number of years and ended her career as the personal assistant to Lloyd Bentsen. In 1968, she married Harry Goodman and moved with him to Dallas where they raised two sons. Elfrieda was a long-time member of Temple Emanu-El and an active member of the Texas Jewish Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, and she is survived by her sons Jeff of Dallas and Elliott, her daughter-in-law Smyth, and her granddaughter Hayden all of Plano. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, or the charity of your choice.
