NOBLE, Okla. - Marie K. Simmons, 91, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, in Norman, Okla.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Minton Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Chad Chaddick, pastor of Fairlanes Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the "Garden of the Good Shepherd" at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mrs. Simmons was born April 10, 1910, to Joseph Hamilton and Lula Mae (Cook) Knapp in Vernon. She moved to Norman, Okla., five years ago from Borger. She was a longtime teacher in the Borger school system and was a volunteer at North Plains Hospital in Borger. She was also a reading tutor. She attended Northeast Baptist Church in Norman. She participated at Little Axe Senior Citizens and attended "Full Circle Adult Day Care" in Norman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. "Doc" Simmons, a brother, and four sisters.

Survivors include a son, Bill Simmons of Noble, Okla.; a daughter, Lynda Cunningham of Noble; a sister, Verna Merle Arthur of Dimmitt; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
