FRITCH - Melvin Ray Smith, 71, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Garden of Love at Westlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Brad Foster, pastor of Lake Meredith Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mr. Smith was born in Elk City, Okla. He had been a Fritch resident since moving from Darrouzett Station in 1979. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy as a machinist mate 3rd. He retired after 19 years as an operating engineer with Phillips Pipeline Co. He was a Methodist and a member of the American Legion in Beaver, Okla.
He married Roberta Smith in 1949 at Perryton.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rick E. Smith of Booker and Walter R. Smith of Pointe Noire, Africa; two brothers, Bobby Dean Smith and Edward Smith, both of Beaver; a sister, Dovie Smith of Enid, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

FRITCH-Roberta Colleen Smith, 72, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Westlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Gene Weinette, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Stratford, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Smith was born June 2, 1932, in Beaver, Okla. She was former manager of Double Diamond Property Owners Association.
Survivors include her parents, Earl and Gertrude Smith of Fritch; two sons, Walter Smith of Jakarta, Indonesia, and Rick Smith of Booker; a brother, Ted W. Smith of Biloxi, Miss.; and four grandchildren.
