*Obituary
Abbie Hearn Gilbert

Abbie Hearn was born May 6, 1889, in the old Bear Springs community near Carbon.

On September 15, 1907 she was married to T. Elmer Gilbert at the Carbon Baptist Church with Bro Cobb officiating. To this union four children were born, one boy dying in infancy. The three remaining children are Mrs. Vesta Lee Maberry of corpus Christi, Wilson Gilbert of Kelly Field, San Antonio, and Earl Gilbert of Dallas.

Mrs. Gilbert, Abbie to the host of friends who knew and loved her, was converted and joined the Baptist Church at the age of eleven. To her last hour she remained as earnest worker and a courageous christian. For several years prior to her illness she taught a large class of 14-year old at Roby Baptist church. They have reorganized and call it the "Abbie Gilbert Class". She untiringly and unselfishly, indeed, "gave of her best to the Master".

She passed suddenly to her reward on the morning of April 23, 1942. We who knew her most intimately loved her best. There is a vacant chair, a broken home and aching hearts here, but we know that shehas gone to that Home Eternal where comes no war to grieve the hearts of mothers; no partings and no tears; where all is joy and peace forever.-Contributed by one who knew her.
