Graveside services for Connie R. Martin, 70, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Hobbs Cemetery with Pastor Dale Stowe officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Word of God Church, 311 Ash Street in Sweetwater.

Martin died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at University Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock.

He was born March 15, 1939, in Post. He married Gay Seaton May 18, 1984, in Sweetwater.

He worked as a truck driver for Gypsum Transport, Inc. for many years before retiring. He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy veteran. He also served in the U.S. National Guard. He was a member of the Word of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gay Martin of Sweetwater; two daughters, Damita Sylvest and Connie Jones, both of Sweetwater; one son, Bubba James Martin of Odessa; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruthell Robinson of Georgetown; and mother, Ruth Martin of Georgetown.

He was preceded in death by his father, Barney R. Martin, and two great-grandchildren, Blaize and Cutter Presley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Joe Seaton, Joe Seaton, Randy Seaton, Tim Seaton, Wesley Seaton, Coby Seaton and Kiley Seaton.
