Wife of Kirby Ray Dunlap
Evelyn Dunlap passed away January 21, 2011; she was born July 2, 1918 in Holland, TX.
She was a long time resident of Slaton moving here in 1921 from Holland. She attended Slaton schools. Evelyn married Kirby Ray Dunlap on May 9, 1942 in Post. Kirby preceded her in death on October 1, 1960.
She worked in retail sales with Kessel Department Store, Montgomery Ward, Eblen Pharmacy and Handy Hut Convenience Store where she was assistant manager and retired in 1982. She was Slaton Citizen of the Year in 1978, a member with the Ladies Auxiliaries of the VFW & American Legion and volunteer of the year in 1997 & 1998 for Slaton Senior Citizens.
Siblings, Roy, James, Herbert, Jessie, Windy, Marie Saage, Lorena Ballard, Myrtle Jochetz and Erna Meissner have preceded her in death.
Her survivors include her daughters, Harriett Moore of Lubbock, Brenda Melbern of Slaton; son, Hiram of Austin; sister, Laura Wilson of Slaton; along with six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchild.
