BORGER - Blaz Strovas Jr., 81, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregg Simmons, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be in the Garden of Beatitudes at Westlawn Memorial Park by Isom Masonic Lodge No. 1242.
Mr. Strovas was born in Primero, Colo., and had been a Borger resident since 1948. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge No. 1242, the Borger Commandary No. 96, the Local Union No. 196 and the SNPJ Lodge.
He retired as a welder and pipefitter for Bowman Chase and Claude Robinson.
He married Cora Castiglia in 1936 at Trinidad, Colo.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry Strovas of Redmond, Wash., and Denny Strovas of Amarillo; a daughter, Fran Braden of Borger; two brothers, Louis Strovas of Houston and Joe Strovas of Greeley, Colo.; five sisters, Anna Skrzynear of Denver, Josephine Maltese of Lakewood, Colo., Evelyn Schneider Layman of Glendale, Calif., Rose Felice of Arvada, Colo., and Frances Pierce of Louisiana; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Cora M. Strovas, 88, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in Amarillo.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Gregg Simmons, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in "The Garden of the Beatitudes" at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mrs. Strovas was born in Aguilar, Colo., and had been a Borger resident since 1948. She was a homemaker and member of the Eastern Star, Ruth Sunday School Class, First Baptist Church, Tri-City Extension Club and SNPJ Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Blaz, a sister Mary Colletti, a daughter, Cora Lee Strovas and two brothers, Nash and Sammy and a grandson, Jerry Lynn.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald (Jerry) and Jacqui Strovas of Redmond, Wash., and Danny and Carolyn Strovas of Amarillo; one daughter, Fran and Don Braden of Borger and one sister, Josie and Jack Swink of Burbank, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Mike and Joy Braden, Steve and Cindy Braden, Stacie and Kevin Hunt, Carissa and Deke Crews, Christopher and Kris-Lynn Strovas, Shawn Strovas and Scott Strovas and five great-grandchildren, Sabrina Davis, Colt Braden, Chase Braden, Braden Hunt and Ethan Hunt.
