SANTA FE - Mrs. Myrtis Johnson went to be with her Lord Saturday evening, January 25, 2014, at her home in Santa Fe.
Born August 3, 1926 in Lake Cove, Louisiana, Mrs. Johnson had been a longtime resident of Galveston County. She spent her life creating a loving home for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and canning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lawrence and Sarah E. (Hazelton) Clark; 9 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Ed Johnson; son, Bobby Johnson and wife, Patti; daughter, Brenda Johnson Rush all of Santa Fe; brother, Leon Clark of Groves, TX; sisters, Belvie Jordan and husband, Hamilton of San Antonio, Nola Clark Steortz of Turkey Creek, LA; grandchildren, Mike Chapman, Natalie Johnson-Corgey, Michelle Evans, Erin Johnson-Perry, Melissa Copeland, Amanda Garthwaite, Sarah Harmeyer, Jessica Rush; great grandchildren, Josh Matchette, Marcus Kay, Jon Corgey, Jada Chapman, Mason Evans, Katie Rush, Kale Chapman, Jackson Perry, Z.J. Garthwaite, Olivia Garthwaite and Liam Harmeyer.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Arcadia First Baptist Church, with Dr. Rick Smith and Dr. Jerry I. Smith officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Mrs. Johnson’s name to Arcadia First Baptist Church Bus Ministry or Building Fund, Post Office Box 128, Santa Fe, Texas 77517.
