Lois Irene (Nichols) Terry, 83, died Monday November 15, 2010 at her residence in Waxahachie, TX. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday November 18, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Roby with Dean Kilmer officiating. Burial will follow in Roby Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born December 7, 1926 in Tecumseh, OK, Lois was a daughter of the late Arthur Nichols and Ruby (Daniel) Nichols-Wilson. As a child, Lois moved from Oklahoma to Texas in a covered wagon. She was raised by her grandparents Elbert and Dona Daniel in Longworth, TX where she went to school. Lois married Ralph Dono Terry in Lawton, OK. on April 8, 1943. While Dono was in the service during WWII they moved to Enid, OK then Mississippi. After Dono was discharged from the service, he and Lois moved to Roby and later to Waxahachie in 2001. Lois was a homemaker and while raising her family she helped with the farm and raised cattle. She was a great cook who loved to can, garden, shop and spend time with people. She was an intent listener and had a wonderful sense of humor. Lois was a member of the Church of Christ in Roby and Waxahachie. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister (Marketa Galloway) and one uncle (Toby Daniel).
Lois is survived by her husband Ralph Dono Terry of Waxahachie; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jackie Dean Terry of Claytonville, TX and Gary Wurth and Connie Terry of Abilene; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet Kay and George Price of Waxahachie; one sister and brother-in-law, Dickie Gayle and Tom Rhodes of Waxahachie; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and her beloved cat "Tootsie".
