BORGER — Arthur Alvin Waight Jr., 85, of Borger died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Christian Church in Borger with the Rev. James Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery in Borger with local law enforcement agencies honor guard unity and Masonic Rites by Unity Lodge 1242 A.F. & A.M. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.
Arthur Alvin Waight Jr. was born May 24, 1927, in Pottsville to Arthur Alvin and Thelma Jenkins Waight Sr. He was a veteran of the Marines, a member of Unity Lodge 1242 A.F. & A.M. in Borger, First Christian Church of Borger, and was chief of police in Borger for 25 years. Mr. Waight married Joanne Updike on Nov. 24, 1960, in Borger. Arthur was an active and faithful servant to God, family, country and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Earl.
Survivors include his wife Joanne Waight of Borger; two sons, John Arthur Waight and wife Debra of Mineral Wells and Paul Matthew Waight of Arlington; a brother, Don Waight of Pottsville; a sister, Dorothy Svanjord of Pottsville; and a granddaughter, Trella J'Anne Waight.
The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church of Borger, 200 S. Bryan St., Borger, TX 79007.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

BORGER — Mary Joanne Waight, 76, of Borger died Friday, April 26, 2013, in Dallas.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church in Borger with the Rev. James Stephens and Dr. Andy Mangum officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mrs. Waight was born July 23, 1936, in Borger to John Oscar and Willie Mae Updike. She married Arthur A. Waight Jr. on Nov. 24, 1960.
Survivors include two sons, John of Mineral Wells and Matt of Arlington; a granddaughter; and a sister, Linda Ramona Graham of Clemson, S.C.
The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church of Borger, 200 Bryan St., P.O. Box 5006, Borger, TX 79008-5006.
