TEXAS CITY — Mother Beatrice P. Willis went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at her home.

Mrs. Willis, a homemaker, was born April 26, 1921, in Marshall, Texas to the late Robert and Willie Ann Easley Thomas. She was educated in the Marshall public schools and has been a resident of Galveston County for 62 years. She was a loyal member of Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ in La Marque where she served as Church Mother. She was active in the Church of God in Christ ministries until her health failed her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; children, Pauline Tidwell, Mose Crawford, Robert Crawford and Booker T. Crawford; her husband, Elder Lugene Willis; and siblings, Mose Thomas, Eddie Thomas, Nathaniel Cole and Marjoria Lara.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Betty Tryals (Terry) and Charles Crawford both of Texas City; her step-children, Dennis Willis of La Marque, William Willis, Mary Jean Willis Peton, Clyde Willis, Venola Scott all of California; 12 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her Gospel Temple Church Family, other family members and friends.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2008, at the Mainland Funeral Home

Chapel in La Marque followed by a wake from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Home Going Services will be

11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Greater Randle's Temple Church of God in Christ, #25 Highway 3 South in Texas City. Dr. Osha Randle, Sr., pastor and Elder Freddie Doughty, officiating. Entombment will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

WEST TEXAS CITY - Elder Lugine Willis was born on August 16,1921, in Harlton, Texas to William and Gertrude Willis.
He was an employee of Union Carbide for twenty-five years, and founder of the Carver Park Neighborhood Association and a member of La Marque Masonic Lodge No. 373 Free and Accepted Masons - Prince Hall Affiliation. He was pastor of Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ in La Marque for over ten years. Other church affiliations included chaplain and union meeting president of the Gulf Coast District.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Bell Willis, and a grandson, Corey Payton.

He leaves cherished memories: a devoted wife, Beatrice Willis; three daughters, Mary Jean Willis of Los Angeles, California, Jeweline War-field of San Bernadino, California, and Venolia Scott of Houston, Texas; three sons. Clyde R. Willis of San Bernadino, California, Dennis T. Willis of La Marque, Texas, and William Willis, II of Houston, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, one sister, Venolia Willis of Victorville, California; one brother, Henry Willis of Victorville, California; 3 stepchildren, Moses Allen of Galveston, Texas, Betty Britton of Houston, Texas, and
Charles Crawford of Galveston, Texas; 8 step-grandchildren; 6 great-step-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in La Marque. A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Greater Handle's Temple Church of God in Christ, No. 21 Highway 3 So. in Texas City. Komegoing Celebration will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13th at the Greater Randle's Temple Church of God in Christ. Elder Johnie Worthen, officiating. Entombment will be at Grace Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hitchcock.
