Leonard Williams was born January 24, 1938 to the parentage of J.B. and Hattie Price Williams in Karnack, Texas. He was the youngest boy out of 11 children and was called “Lil Brother”.
Leonard met and married the love of his life, Ollie Jewel and they remained as one for 58 years. He was a faithful member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Mighty Male Chorus.
Leonard started his professional business with Tholen’s Carpet and Paint Company. His business partner was Jewel Gary, Jr. for many years until retirement.
Leonard’s passion was helping others and in doing so Williams Terrace Subdivision was built. He came out of retire and worked for Union Pacific in Galveston for 4 years. He enjoyed playing golf in his spare time. He will be remembered for his big smile, giving spirit and loving heart.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Ollie Williams; daughter, Fariece Preston; grandchildren, Shelbi (Michael); Montrese; Brandi; and Clayton (Marie), siblings, Mary Pearl Little and Hubert Williams; brother in law, Climmiet Yancy, Sr.; aunt, Bennie Chilton; God- children, Tasha Gary, Joseph Patrick Brown, Cherisse Richardson and Damon Yancy, special friends, Jewel and Carrie Gary and Mack Gordon, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Public visitation for Mr. Leonard Williams will be Friday, February 3, 2017 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Mainland Funeral Home, 2711 Texas Ave., La Marque, TX. The Williams family will be hosting a visitation on Friday night from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM. at Mainland Funeral Home.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Leonard Williams will be Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Rising Star Baptist Church located at 302 N. Oak St., Texas City.
A public viewing will beginning at 10:00 AM. followed by the Homegoing Service beginning at 11:00 AM.
Interment at Hayes Grace Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX. Service entrusted to Mainland Funeral Home, 2711 Texas Ave., La Marque, Texas 77568
