LUBBOCK, — Jessie Don Thomas, 29, of Crosbyton, a former World War II Marine flier, was killed Thursday when his light crop spraying plane crashed.

Witnesses said the plane fell to the earth as Thomas was attempting to bank his heavily-loaded plane down wind.

The accident occurred about 20 miles northeast of Dickens.

Thomas had been a flying instructor in the Marine Corps during the war.

At the time of mishap, Thomas had completed five loads of cottonspary and had made one trip to his sixth load. According to witnesses his light plane "high-speed stalled" at 500 feet and the plane spun into the ground.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gregory Don his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Thomas of Eldorado Springs, Mo.; and a sister, Mrs. William Brandt, Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are pending arrive of his parents. Body is at King Funeral Home in Crosbyton.
