Katherine was born Jan. 2, 1917 near Nara Vista, N.M. to Votie Anderson (V. A.) and Myrtle Mae (Thomas) Johnston. She moved with her family to Ralls in June of 1929. She graduated from Ralls High School in 1933 and from Texas Tech University in 1937, where she was a member of the Koshari Social Club, later known as Pi Beta Phi Sorority. On Feb. 4, 1940, she married J. B. Prewitt, son of David Edward and Blanche Prewitt. At the close of W.W. II, she and J. B. began farming in Cone. In 1949, they moved to Ralls and reared their three children. Katherine was very active in Girl Scouts, P.T.A., and the Ralls First United Methodist Church. Katherine and J.B. loved fishing and sharing their lake house in Toleda Bend with their family until giving it up in 1998.

Katherine is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Charlotte Johnston, Mary Francis Chesser; her husband Tommy; a nephew, Terry Chesser; and a step-grandson, Bryan Tomlin.

She is survived by her loving family; husband of 65 years, J. All who knew Katherine knew she was a hard worker and a great listener. She loved her family and was always there for them. She will certainly be missed by all. She and J. B. "felt they had been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in a community like Ralls."

A message from her family, "Mother, you are deeply loved by your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Thank you for your guidance and your example of what a mother should be."

Katherines family would like to give their heart felt thanks to our private caregivers; Mary Martinez, Denise Rosemond, Evelyn Brown and Sylvia Nino; also to the staff at Carillon, both assisted living and skilled nursing; and a special thanks to Dr. Hal Green who has been their doctor over 40 years.
