Private family graveside services for Emma Maciula of Lubbock, formerly of Brownfield. Emma passed away on Tuesday, December 15 in Lubbock from complications of Covid-19.
Emma was born December 5, 1925, in a farmhouse near Cushing, Oklahoma, to Louis M. and Elsa Kluck Fick. She met her future husband Mike Maciula while both were attending Oklahoma A&M University and they were married June 18, 1947. Emma spent many years teaching elementary school students in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. After moving to Brownfield in 1970 she taught several years at Colonial Heights Elementary School. She was active in many Brownfield organizations including Parent Teachers, Maids & Matrons Study Club, Library Board, and delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. Emma loved to quilt and she loved to read. She spent many joyful hours working on puzzles and crossword puzzles. She and Mike loved to travel in their RV and enjoyed spending time with their numerous friends in the Good Sam Club.
Emma was a very generous, kind, and caring individual who was dedicated to the Lord and to her husband and family. She exemplified living and leading by example and by treating everyone with kindness and respect.
Emma and Mike were long-time members of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Brownfield where she was very active and proudly served on the finance committee. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, and four brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Joan Fritzler and husband Jim of New Deal, son Pete Maciula and wife Karen of Midland; four grandsons, Jason Fritzler and wife Camille of Bushland, Mark Fritzler of Lubbock, Brad Fritzler and wife Heather of Abernathy, and Matt Maciula and wife Allison of Lewisville; and eight great-grandchildren, Zachary, Zoey, LaraBeth, Cooper, and Jake Fritzler and August, Parker, and Charlotte Maciula.
The family requests memorials to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1902 Levelland Highway, Brownfield, Texas 79316.
