Services for Alton J. Hartman, 92, of Brownfield were held Wednesday, March 7, in the Shady Oaks Church of God with Rev. Eugene Ballard officiating. Burial was in Terry County Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Hartman died Monday, March 5, 2007, in Lubbock. He was born Oct. 18, 1914, in Comanche to Jessie and Ardy Hartman and was married to Ozell Devitt on Feb. 3, 1934. She died on Feb. 5, 2004.
He moved with his family to Union in 1918 where he attended school. He farmed in the Gomez area until his retirement in 1996 and was a member of the Shady Oaks Church of God.
Mr. Hartman was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers---Gaylord Hartman, Royce Hartman and J.M. 'Dutch' Hartman. He is survived by one daughter---Yvonne Shelton and her husband---H.W. of Brownfield and one son---Ronnie and his wife---Cuban of Tyler.
Mr. Hartman is also survived by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one brother---Hope Hartman of Oregon and one sister---Wanda Gilley of Brownfield.
