James Woodrow Tankersley passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021 at his home in New Boston, Texas. He was 74.
James was born September 4, 1946 in De Kalb, Texas to Obie Hensley and Ulda Oleta Davidson Tankersley. He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for Red River Army Depot and a Veteran of the United States Army. James was a member of The Gospel Tabernacle in New Boston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Audrey Morris; and three infant brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Tankersley of New Boston, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Zane Gauntt of Simms, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Shonda Neff of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Phillip and Buffie Neff of Shirley, Arkansas, and Timothy and Amy Jo Davis of Tyler, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Wanda Tankersley of Conway, Arkansas; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Martha and Bill Shulte of Dunedin, Florida, Helen Hightower of Hooks, Texas, and Serena Tankersley of Seminole, Florida; nine grandchildren, Brandon Neff, Chris Neff and his wife, Liz, Cody Neff, Elick Neff, Dakota Spain, Brittany Gauntt, Cameron Gauntt, Jacob Carrigan, and Doug Carrigan; two great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at The Gospel Tabernacle in New Boston, Texas with Matt Neese officiating. Interment will follow at Ringwood Cemetery in New Boston, Texas under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at The Gospel Tabernacle in New Boston, Texas.
