Helen O. Tankersley 79,of Nacogdoches, Texas died Thursday February 5,2004 in Nacogdoches. Mrs. Tankersley was born October 15,1924 in Leary, Texas. She was retired from Red River Army Depot and a member of Chapel of Light Church. She was preceaded in death by her husband, James W. Tankersley; one daughter, Brenda Clawson; and one son, Barry Clawson.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Jim Wohlfahrt and Darlene and David Woodard of Nacogdoches; one stepdaughter, Norma Rasmussen of Dallas; three brothers, J.S. “Cooter” Lawrence of Vivian, La., J.B. “Buddy” Lawrence of New Boston, Texas; and Billy Lawrence of Plain Dealing, La; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A.M. Adams officiating. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Simms, Texas. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will be at the Lawrence home, 504 Ratcliff, New Boston.
