A head-on smashup on the Pampa Highway Sunday afternoon resulted in the deaths of a Spring Creek couple.

Victims of the two-car collision were Marion J. Hillman, 63, and his wife, Lola, 53. Hillman died at the scene of the crash; his wife succumbed about three hours later in North Plains Hospital. Hillman had resided in Hutchinson county since 1926.

The Hillmans are survived by three daughters, Lajuana Maxine, Spring Creek, Mrs. Billie Turner of Borger and Mrs. Evelyn Isham of Amarillo; three sons, Curtis and R.L. (Jiggs) of Borger, and Royce (Bubba) of Perryton; and four grandchildren.

Also surviving Hillman is a sister, Mrs. W.S. Slate of Borger. Mrs. Hillman is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Flora Madden of Borger; three sisters, Mrs. Floyd Jones of Borger, Mrs. Lee Scott of Dumas and Mrs. Roy Nisbett of Lubbock; and two brothers, Howard and Marvin Madden, both of Borger.

Joint services for the Hillmans will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Borger. The Rev. Jeff Moore, pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. H. Lee Hillon, assistant pastor of the First Baptist Church of Borger. Interment will be in the local cemetery with Minton Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers will be Peter Stockstill, C.A. Pruell, C.U. Emil, L.E. Dyer, Miller Maddox Sr., Miller Maddox Jr., Uial Lamb, Jim Nix, Fred Ryder, Don Convington, Don Holloway and Leroy Richardson.
