Funeral services for John Jepthy "Jeppie" Irby, 78, of 522 N. Harvey, are pending with Minton Mortuary.
Irby died at 2:30 a.m. today at North Plains Hospital. He was born July 15, 1894 in Uvalde and has been a resident of Borger for 29 years.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and was an army veteran of WW I.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel of the home; two sons, Johnny Irby Jr. and Roy C. Irby, both of Borger; two daughters, Mrs. Jo Gentry of Stinnett, Mrs. Shirley Hinkle of Midwest City, Okla.; three brothers, Grover of Medina, Jess of Lake Isabella, Calif.; Earl of San Angelo; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Barker and Mrs. Hazel Scott, both of San Angelo; and eight grandchildren.

Ethel Irby, 93, Borger Nursing Home, died Monday, Nov. 21, 1994 in Golden Plains Community Hospital.
Services are pending with Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
A native of Avery, Okla., she had been a Borger resident for 53 years. She was a housewife, and member of First Assembly of God Church. She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary and World War I Womens Auxiliary.
She married John Irby on April 27, 1923 at Ranger. He died in 1973.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Roy Irby in 1977 and Cecil Irby in 1922.
Survivors include a son, John Irby, Jr., of Borger; two daughters, Jo Gentry of Stinnett; and Shirley Hinkle of Sodona [sic], Ariz.; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will be staying at 110 Willowick in Borger and 210 S. Mackenzie, Stinnett.
The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of the Panhandle.
