*Obituary
Jackie Lee Kossey, two and a half year old son of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Kossey of 129 Apache in Electric City was drowned Wednesday afternoon when he fell through the rust weakened cover of a cesspool.

The body was discovered floating in the cesspool by a neighbor about a half an hour after the child was missed by his mother. Efforts to revive the child by members on the Hutchinson County Sheriff's office and neighbors failed.

He was rushed to North Plains Hospital where doctors worked for about 30 minutes in an effort to revive him. He was pronounced dead about 6 p.m., 30 minutes after arriving at the hospital.

Officers said the youngster apparently walked on the the weakened cesspool cover located near the family home and fell through the roof. The metal covering of the buried tank was badly rusted, according to officers.

Other survivors besides the parents include his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Kossey and Mr. and Mrs. M.R. Webb, all of Phillips.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Phillips Baptist Church with the Rev. Shad Rue officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of the Minton funeral home. Casket bearers will be Billy Joe Kossey, Mickey Carlisle, Melvin Webb and Eddie Joe Webb.
