Funeral services were conducted for J.H. Lea, long-time resident of Friona, Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Tenth Street Church of Christ with Bro. S.W. Pope of Borger, officiating. Mr. Lea had been a member of the church many years.
Mr. Lea, who was born December 9, 1882, at Sanatobia [sic], Miss., moved to the Friona area from Harmon County, Okla., in 1926. He and his wife observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary May 6, 1956. He had been in declining health for about a year and died in his home in the west part of town about noon Friday.
Honorary pallbearers were E.M. Jack, Bert Hadley, J.W. Baxter, Leonard Pope, E.T. Blackburn, and Ed Walters. Active pallbearers were Coy Geeter, Oscar Baxter, Leo Bails, Bob Wyly, Elton Wyly, and James Pope.
Survivors other than his wife are one son, Alfred H. Lea of Amarillo; three daughters, Mrs. C.O. Thompson, Mrs. William Hadley, and Mrs. S.A. Trigg, all of Borger; two brothers, Robert Lea of Albuquerque and Lockett Lee of Sanger, Texas:
Also, five sisters, Mesdames C.E. Elrod of Sanger, Texas; Mark Gower of Visalia, Calif.; Maggie McDaniel of Calif.; John Rhodes of Oregon; and L.D. Cummings of Panhandle, Texas. Also eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Burial was in the Highland Cemetery at Borger under the direction of Claborn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lea died at 1 a.m. Wednesday at North Plains Hospital.
Survivors include one son, A.H. Lea of Amarillo; three daughters, Mrs. S.A. Trigg and Mrs. C.O. Thompson, both of Borger, Mrs. Jessie Hadley of Stinnett; five brothers, Jim and Sam Queen of Houston, R.B., Charlie and Hill Queen, all of Bastrop; two sisters, Mrs. Artie Coleman of Houston, Mrs. Byrdie Stamps of Fort Worth; 18 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Casketbearers will be Clifford Thompson, Donald Hadley, Bill Hadley, Phillip Hadley, Johnny Hadley, Richard Hadley.
