*Obituary
Mrs. Jacqueline J. Lindsey, 67, of 902 W. Lee, widow of the late Robert R. Lindsey, died about 3 p.m. Saturday in St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo.
Funeral services are pending with Minton Mortuary.
A native of Wagoner, Okla., she was born July 10, 1908, and was an area resident since 1926.
The wife of the prominent businessman was known to many friends in the area.
Mrs. Lindsey was the woman behind Bob Lindsey, who was a successful merchant, philanthropist, world-traveler, sportsman and civic leader. Mr. Lindsey died Sept. 19 of a heart attack.
Mrs. Lindsey, the former Jacqueline June Posey, of Phillips, was married to Robert Lindsey on Sept. 28, 1928. The very next day, Sept. 29, 1928, he and his bride opened a furniture store at 725 N. Main.
Business was good. The couple worked hard. They prospered.
Mrs. Lindsey was a homemaker most of her life. She was active in civic affairs and was past president of Twentieth Century Club, and of the Top of Texas District, Texas Federation of Women's Clubs. She was a charter member of Women of Rotary.
In 1958 she was named "outstanding club mother" by the women of TFWC clubs in 49 counties.
Always, when she had, she shared. In the pre-cafeteria days in Borger schools, Mrs. Lindsey often furnished a huge pot of homemade soup for lunch on a cold day for all the children in a school.
The fellows at Boys Ranch have been "mothered" by Mrs. Lindsey, who had interest in the homeless youngsters. This was an avocation she shared with her husband.
She was also known as a good hostess. Often the Lindseys would give a Christmas party and invite all of their friends and relatives to the party.
When asked for the secret of her success as a hostess, Mrs. Lindsey once said, "There is no secret. It all depends upon liking people."
She was an inspiration to her friends, neighbors, and homemakers. She managed all she did through the virtues of sincerity, humility, generosity, and honest-to-goodness love of people.
Mrs. Lindsey was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy of Borger, and Bob II of Canyon; two daughters, Mrs. Nettie Lou Holland of Bartlesville, Okla., and Mrs. Joy Stephenson of Coleman; a brother, Archie Posey of Borger; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Moore, and Mrs. Clover Louise Young, both of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Ola Meadows of Shawnee, Okla.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
