Ralls, Texas — Amada H. “Mae” Cortez, 72, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Ralls.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 16, 2017 in the St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father Samuel Oracion officiating. Burial will follow in Ralls Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. A rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the church.
Mae was born on February 6, 1945 in Robstown to Guadalupe and Petra Hernandez. She grew up in Robstown and moved to Ralls in 1963. She attended South Plains College and received her LVN. She worked at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock for 28 years. She married Jesse Cortez on October 21, 1994. She was a very active member of the St. Michael Catholic Church also teaching in the Religious Education Classes. She loved her nieces and nephews but her two grandsons were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her husband: Jesse Cortez of Ralls, one son and daughter-in-law: Deacon Arturo and Belinda Hinojosa of Plainview, three sisters: Ofilia Quintanilla of Ralls, Petra Resendez of Ralls and Juanita and Juan Marin of Ralls, her two grandsons: Dr. Joshua Hinojosa of Amarillo and Jeremy Hinojosa of Amarillo and her nieces and nephews.
