Allen Belle JOHNSON

Oaklawn Cemetery
Burleson County,
Texas

108 years Young! Amazing! I bet this sweet lady has some great stories to tell of her life and the times she lived.

Miss Allen Belle Turrentine was born on April 5, 1889 to Jarrad Allen Turrentine and Katie Nance in Ezzell, Lavaca County, Texas.

In 1910 she married Percy Green Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson was a 17 year resident of Austin and passed away on Monday, February 23, 1998 in Travis County, Texas. Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and the eldest member of St. John's "Amazing Grace", Wesley Sunday School Class, and the Martha Circle. She lived in Palestine, Texas for 13 years before moving to Austin in 1981. While living at Village Christian Apartments, she was active delivering "Meals on Wheels" and played the washboard in their VCA Kitchen Band.

U.S., Cherokee Baker Roll and Records, 1924-1929 show she resided in the following places: Ezzelle, Texas; Yoakum, Texas; Silsbee, Texas (20 years); Sweetwater, Texas; the record also indicates she is 1/16 Cherokee as described by the following lineage:
Mary Upton - Great Grandmother
Charity Viola Nance - Grandmother
Katie May Nance Turrentine - Mother

She was a loving and caring lady who touched so many lives. In spite of her failing eye sight, her attitude was always one-hundred percent positive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Green Johnson; and both of her children, Percy Johnson Jr. and Frances Barton. She is survived by one grandson, Jeffrey Neal Barton, and his wife, Frances, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Johnson, of Lago Vista, Texas.
