Graveside services for Dixie Collum will be held 2:30pm Friday, June 7, 2019 at Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Don McWhorter officiating.
There will be a family visitation on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Dixie passed away at her home in Brownfield Saturday, June 1, 2019 with longtime friend and caregiver Dana Lyday and good neighbor Sherie Forbes at her side. She was born August 6, 1928 to Minnie (Sipe) and Lonnie McKinney near Longworth, TX in Fisher County. Dixie attended school in Longworth, Sweetwater, and graduated from Union High School in 1946. She graduated from Jolley’s Beauty School in San Angelo in December of 1946. Dixie was a hairdresser in Brownfield for 62 years and then became a machine quilter for over 20 years. She married Glen Collum in 1948 in Brownfield. Dixie is preceded in death by her husband Glen; parents, Minnie and Lonnie; daughter; Carol and special friend, Don Moore.
Dixie is survived by son, Gary Collum and wife Sandy; grandson, Billy Collum; and granddaughter, Blair Collum; honorary daughters, Jean Ann Hunte and Holly Hester.
