Our family will always be so proud of Clinton. He made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. He is honored on the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington DC. Name inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 07e, Line 88, very close to another one of our relatives. He is buried near many family members at Petree Cemetery in Walker, County, Texas.

Clinton was a lifelong Huntsville resident, born to Clinton E. Brown and Nellie Anna Brown. He enlisted as a Marine Reserve on October 26, 1965, at a recruiting office in Houston, Texas. On November 1, 1965, he went into Extended Active Duty. Upon arriving in Vietnam, he was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Fox Company was setting up their company command post, 4 kilometers south southeast of the Marble Mountain Airfield, when Clinton detonated a hostile booby-trap and died, at the age of 20 as a result of fragmentation wounds to the back, both legs and both buttocks from the explosion. His official place of death is listed as South Vietnam, Quang Nam Province.
