Funeral services for Sammy Martin Oates, 66, of 13 Riverview, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Minton Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Larry Nelms, pastor of the Borger Christian Center, officiating.

Interment will follow in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Mortuary.

Oates, an area resident since 1931, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday in High Plains Baptist Church in Amarillo.

He was born Oct. 7, 1909 in Fairview.

Survivors include his wife, Dena Mae of the home; three daughters, Sandra Price of Canyon, Shirley Nix of Fairfax, Va. and Maryetta Taylor of Houston; three brothers, three sisters, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Casketbearers will be Joel Davis, Joe Wilson, Dean Randall, Marvin Baker, Harry Price and Buttons Brown.
