McALLEN - Maria Teresa Barreiro, a lifelong resident of McAllen, was called to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. She was born to Hilario and Felipa Delgado. She was preceded in death by her parents Hilario and Felipa Delgado, brothers, Marcos and Jose R. Delgado, sisters Rosa Valderas, Maria de Jesus Ponce, Antonia Gonzalez, and Isidora "Lola" Delgado and her grandchild Cesar Barreiro Jr.
Tere was an alumnus of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Saint Genevieve Catholic School, where she was Vice President of the Catholic Youth Organization and proud catcher of the softball team. Tere then graduated from McAllen High School and then attended business school at Pan American Jr. College. Tere was the office manager for the distinguished Dr. Robert Osborne for several years. We are profoundly saddened by her death. She will be greatly missed by all of us.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years Conce Barreiro Sr. and their six children. Conce Barreiro Jr., Clariza and Daniel Moya, Cesar and Karen Barreiro, Carlos and Velma Barreiro, Cynthia and Felix Hernandez, and Drs. Christopher and Maribel Barreiro. She is survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She has one surviving sister Socorro De La Garza and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen from 12-7 pm on Thursday June 7th with rosary from 7-8pm. A mass in Tere's honor: Friday June 8th at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church in McAllen. The burial on Saturday June 9th at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen. Serving as pallbearers: Conce Barreiro Jr., Jason Barreiro, Jose Luis De La Garza, Victor Delgado, Marco Gonzalez, Al De La Garza, Andy Ponce, and Eloy Gonzalez.
The family would like to thank and are greatly appreciative to those who cared for her during her journey to heaven; Dr. Curtis Maynard, Dr. J. Guardia, Dr. Shekur, Dr. T. Posluszney, Dr. N. Lopez, Dr. Seiba, Hospice, and Presidente Home Health.
