BORGER - Maria De La Luz Fuentes Rangel, 79, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in St. John's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Maria was born Sept. 23, 1931, in Del Rio to Rodrigo and Theodora Escamilla Fuentes. She moved to Borger in October 1985. She was a field crew leader for 30 years and worked at the wash house until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Rangel; a son, Miguel Rangel Jr.; her parents, Rodrigo and Theodora; a brother, Jesse Fuentes; and a sister, Maria Ellena De Los Santos.

Survivors include five daughters, Blanca Irons and Daisy Rangel, both of Borger, Dora Barrera of Amarillo, Loriann Chavez of Borger and Annette Rangel of Lubbock; two sons, Rudy Rangel and Roy Rangel, both of Borger; six sisters, Juane Esparza of Roswell, N.M., Dianna Fuentes and Guadalupe Valdez, all of Hereford, Nena Hoff of Phoenix, Irene Myers of Tacoma, Wash., Naomi Garcia of Dalhart; a brother, Roy Fuentes of Tacoma; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at 800 S. McGee St. in Borger.
